Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the PlantRitual mobile application or visiting plantritual.com (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

PlantRitual is operated by PlantRitual ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the Service.

2. Description of Service

PlantRitual is a plant care companion that helps you track and maintain care schedules for your plants. The Service includes:

• Adding and managing plants with species-specific care schedules.
• Receiving care reminders (watering, fertilizing, pruning, rotating, repotting, inspecting).
• Browsing a plant species library with care guides.
• Tracking care history and consistency insights.
• Syncing data across devices when signed in.

The Service is available as a mobile app (iOS and Android) and as a website (plantritual.com). Features may vary by platform.

3. Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

You may use certain features of PlantRitual without creating an account. To sync data across devices and access all features, you must create an account using email (magic link), Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree to notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.

3.2 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All your data, including plants, care history, analytics, and photos, will be permanently deleted.

If you have an active subscription, you must cancel it through Apple App Store or Google Play Store before deleting your account. We cannot process refunds for subscriptions managed by the app stores.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

4.1 Free & Premium Plans

PlantRitual offers a free plan and a premium plan:

• Free plan — includes unlimited plants, basic care schedules (Easy Mode), basic notifications, and all core features. No time limit.
• Premium plan — adds advanced schedule mode, proactive alerts, and diagnostics features. Available as a monthly or annual subscription.

4.2 Billing

Premium subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Prices are displayed in your local currency before purchase. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.

4.3 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store or Google Play Store subscription management settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain premium access until then. We do not offer partial refunds for unused subscription periods.

4.5 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google, depending on your platform. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support.

4.6 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices from time to time. Price changes will not affect your current billing period. You will be notified of price changes before your next renewal, and you may cancel at any time.

5. User Content

5.1 Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you create within PlantRitual, including plant information, care logs, notes, and photos. We do not claim ownership of your content.

5.2 License to Us

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.

5.3 Photos

Photos you upload are stored privately and are accessible only to you. We do not use your photos for training AI models, advertising, or any other purpose. Photos are deleted when you delete the associated plant or your account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful code.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app.
• Create automated accounts or use bots to access the Service.
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Care Recommendations Disclaimer

PlantRitual provides plant care recommendations based on general species data and user-provided environment information. These recommendations are for informational purposes only and are not guaranteed to produce specific results.

• Plant health depends on many factors we cannot control (light, humidity, soil, genetics, pests).
• Care schedules are starting suggestions that may need adjustment for your specific conditions.
• We are not liable for plant damage, loss, or death resulting from following our recommendations.

PlantRitual is a care tracking tool, not a substitute for professional horticultural advice.

8. Intellectual Property

The PlantRitual name, logo, design system, illustrations, and app code are our intellectual property. The species data, care algorithms, and content within the app are protected by copyright.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without our written permission.

9. Availability & Changes

We strive to keep PlantRitual available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. If we make changes that materially reduce the functionality of a paid plan, we will notify affected subscribers.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlantRitual and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of data, loss of plants, loss of revenue, or interruption of service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PlantRitual and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by deleting the app and your account. Sections 5 (User Content — regarding our limited license termination), 7 (Disclaimer), 10 (Limitation of Liability), and 11 (Indemnification) survive termination.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where PlantRitual operates. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
